Early in my career, I viewed each field as its own world. Then I realized the magic happens at the intersections.
As a technology leader, I see it everywhere:
- Biology inspiring AI algorithms
- Psychology shaping user experience
- Environmental science driving sustainable technology
This interdisciplinary approach has been the key to innovation in my career. It has let me bring fresh perspectives to problems, see opportunities others might miss, and build solutions that draw on a rich mix of knowledge.
STEM education was not just about facts and figures. It was a mindset: curiosity, exploration, and thinking beyond borders.
Paying it forward
To students: don't limit yourself. Explore widely. The most groundbreaking ideas come from unexpected combinations.
To colleagues: let's pay it forward. Mentor a student, share your journey, and help light the path for the next generation of innovators.
