Acting on a vision of the future means taking risks. Taking risks leads to inevitable failure.

Growing from failure means dealing with setbacks through timely intervention, honest reflection and learning, and turning the setback to your advantage.

That is a skill. Leaders who practice it, through focus, collaboration, communication and timing, get better at foreseeing failures before they happen, and have a greater chance of success when they do.

Failing well is not the opposite of leading well. It is part of it.
